Our Mission is to support Your VisionÂ
Key Areas of Support

Accessibility
Removing the boundaries, assisting regional and remote people access the best in imaging care

Advanced Technologies
Supporting researchers working on advanced imaging technologies in ophthalmology.

Pushing Boundaries
Enabling universities and research institutions to push the boundaries in future imaging technologies.

Through vision, the human body deeply experiences and interprets the world around us. Our eyes have evolved to an extraordinary degree: a gelatinous ball of transparent structures forms a detailed, living image from the light scattered off everything around us, projecting it onto a sensor of millions of light receptors. This signal is captured by a network of cells and carried through nerve fibres to the visual cortex, where it is decoded into the three-dimensional image we perceive as the external world.

In many ways, sight outperforms even the most sophisticated digital cameras of our day. Yet these organic structures are fragile, and susceptible to weakness or disease that can rob a person of this vital sense, or degrade their quality of life through the loss of visual capacity.

The Frisken Vision Foundation is committed to unlocking the potential of light and its imaging — through both research and support for clinical practice — to deliver the best visual health outcomes to patients, irrespective of economic, geographic, or social background. We are inspired by those who share our values, and we support innovative clinical models that restore visual health, as well as light-based imaging technologies that advance cutting-edge research in the life sciences.
